Terms of use

Last updated 16 October 2026

The short version

The calculators are free to use. They give general estimates, not advice, so check anything important with an official source or a licensed adviser before you act on it. You're welcome to share and link to them, and to embed or quote them with credit, as long as you don't use them to promote a financial or credit product.

General information only, not advice

Everything on this site, including every calculator result, explanation and worked example, is general information. It isn't financial product advice, tax advice, credit assistance or legal advice, and it doesn't take your objectives, financial situation or needs into account. The site and its owner aren't a financial adviser, an Australian financial services or credit licensee, a registered tax agent or a lawyer.

Don't rely on the results alone

Results are estimates worked out from the figures you enter and the assumptions shown on each page. Real outcomes will be different: rates change, lenders and funds apply their own rules, and your circumstances may not match the assumptions.

The calculators aren't intended to be relied on for the purposes of making a decision about a financial product. You should consider obtaining advice from a financial services licensee before making any financial decisions, and check tax and duty figures with the ATO or your state or territory revenue office.

Figures are as at the date rates were checked

Each tool shows the date its rates were last checked (for example, "Rates checked 15 Oct 2026"), and uses the rates, thresholds and laws in force or announced at that date. They're re-checked each 1 July and when a government announces a change, but they can fall out of date between checks. Where a tool links to an official source, that source is the final word: if they differ, go with the official figure, and please tell us.

Sharing, copying and embedding

You may:

  • link to any page, share a results link and print or save your results;
  • quote a result, or embed or copy a calculator into your own page, as long as you credit it with a visible link: "Calculator by Dinkum Calc" (or similar) linking to the page it came from;
  • use screenshots in articles, social posts and teaching.

You may not:

  • put a calculator or its results inside or beside an ad, offer or promotion for a specific financial or credit product (such as a particular loan, card, account, fund or investment), or change its results or wording;
  • present it as your own work or suggest the site recommends or endorses you or any product;
  • copy the site wholesale, or use automated tools that put an unreasonable load on it.

We may ask you to remove an embed or copy that doesn't follow these terms.

Ads, affiliate links and support

If ads are shown, they're chosen by Google, not by us, and aren't a recommendation. Some calculators that project savings, investments or super never show ads. Any affiliate link is labelled as one where it appears, is never for a financial product, and never changes a result. Buying a coffee through Buy Me a Coffee is a gift to help keep the rates checked; it doesn't buy any service or advice.

Our liability

We work to keep every figure accurate and tested, but we can't promise the site is error-free, complete or always available. To the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or your reliance on a result.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010) or any other law that can't be excluded. Where the law lets us limit our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee but not exclude it, our liability is limited to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again.

Changes to the site and these terms

We may change, add or remove tools at any time. If these terms change, the date at the top will change too, and the new terms apply from then.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales and of the Commonwealth of Australia, and you agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
